Senior Citizens Advisory Council
Information on the Handewitt Senior Citizens' Advisory Council
Dear Handewitter Seniors,
in September 2020, the Handewitt Senior Citizens' Advisory Council was elected and has been active since then.
We represent the interests of all Handewitt citizens over 60 years of age. Handewitt is growing steadily and so is the number of older residents. Currently, there are about 3000 citizens over 60 years of age living in the entire municipality.
Our tasks are laid down in the Handewitter statutes on the formation of a seniors' advisory council. Here it says, for example: The seniors' advisory council represents the special interests of seniors* and advocates for their concerns. It advises, informs, provides practical assistance and encourages initiatives for self-help among senior citizens. The tasks of the seniors' advisory council include, in particular, advisory statements, recommendations for the municipal council, its committees and the mayor in all matters that affect older citizens.
We familiarize ourselves with the structures and processes of local politics and inform ourselves about municipal decisions in the areas of traffic planning and infrastructure, traffic safety for older citizens, educational and cultural offerings for older citizens, about senior citizens' homes, senior citizens' apartments or intergenerational meeting places.
When necessary, we make recommendations or submit motions to the appropriate committees.
The municipality of Handewitt with its eight districts should be and remain an attractive place to live for all residents and thus also for the older generation. We are committed to this on a voluntary basis.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions, requests or ideas that can help improve our quality of life in the community and local areas. You can reach us by e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 04608 6599. Or come to one of our public meetings. Dates and agenda can be found on the website of the municipality of Handewitt under "Kommunalpolitik".
With best regards
Your seniors' advisory council Handewitt
